Careers

Per 04 - Career Rules: each term you make one skill-table roll for surviving the term, plus an extra skill-table roll if your advancement roll succeeds — the rank bonus is in addition to that extra roll, not in place of it.

Term 1 — Pre-Career: Marine Academy (Flunked)

Entered the Marines Military Academy (entry END 8+) but failed to graduate. Per the rules in 05 - Pre-Career Education, so long as the failure roll wasn’t a 2 or less, Ben still gets automatic entry into the Marine career — but no commission roll in his first Marine term.

Term 2 — Marine (Ground Assault) — 1st Marine Term

Survival END 7+, Advancement EDU 5+ (with the DM+4 banked from Term 4 Event 11).

  • Advanced to Rank 4 (Sergeant) using the banked DM+4:

Benefits

Ben earns 6 Mustering-Out Benefit rolls (07 - Benefits): 4 for his four full Marine terms (Terms 2–5), plus 2 rank-bonus rolls for reaching Rank 3–4 (Sergeant). At Rank 4 there is no DM+1 to benefit rolls (that bonus is Rank 5–6 only), and with no Gambler skill there is no DM+1 on Cash. Two of the six were taken on the Cash column — within the lifetime cap of three. Rolled on the Marine Mustering Out Benefits table:

  • Cr5,000 (Cash, roll 2 or 3) — cash payout.
  • Cr10,000 (Cash, roll 4) — cash payout.
  • END +1 (Benefit roll 6: “Armour or END +1” — chose the characteristic) — raises END 10 → 11.
